Maori Takarangi "Eye of Ngā Atua" Bone Necklace | 42mm

Regular price $58.00 USD

Known as "The Eye of Ngā Atua," this 42mm Maori Takarangi Koru pendant is hand-carved from natural cattle bone and features a central almond-shaped Paua shell eye. It represents the "Swirling Heavens" and the watchful presence of the deities, symbolizing leadership, celestial origin, and the World of Light.

The Eye of Ngā Atua" is a sophisticated Te Takarangi carving, a double-spiral motif historically reserved for the prows of a Chief’s Waka Taua (war canoes) to ensure stability and spiritual protection. Carved from high-density cattle bone, the intersecting spirals represent the union of Ranginui and Papatūānuku, while the open work signifies the emergence of Te Ao Mārama (the World of Light). At the center, an almond-shaped Paua shell inlay serves as the eye of the Atua (gods), acting as a spiritual guardian that offers guidance and reflects the shimmering interconnectedness of the physical and divine realms.
