Maori Triple Pikorua Cattle Bone Necklace | 80mm Paua Twist

Regular price $40.00 USD

This 80mm x 35mm Maori Hei Pikorua (Triple Twist) pendant is hand-carved from natural cattle bone and features a shimmering Paua shell inlay at its base. A profound symbol of eternal connection, it represents the intertwining of three paths—the physical, spiritual, and ancestral—signifying a bond that transcends time and grows stronger through life's challenges.

The Triple Twist is a rare and powerful variation of the Hei Pikorua, representing the eternal bond between families, cultures, or the layers of the human experience. In Maori mythology, the number three holds sacred significance (Tapu), often referencing the Three Baskets of Knowledge (Ngā Kete o te Wānanga) brought from the heavens by Tāne. By integrating three twists, this taonga symbolizes the union of the physical world (Te Ao Mārama), the spiritual dimension (Te Ao Wairua), and the lineage of the ancestors (Whakapapa).

Carved from high-density cattle bone, the pendant features a Paua shell inlay at its foundation. This iridescent "eye" reflects the light of Tangaroa (God of the Sea), offering protection and clarity. Together, these symbols form a narrative of absolute unity: the twists represent life’s shared journey, while the Paua represents the spiritual awareness that guides those paths.
